Appointed by President Obama as Assistant Administrator in 2009, Gina McCarthy has over 30 years experience working at both state and local levels on critical environmental issues. Her career has been shaped by her passions and dedication to coordinate policies on economic growth, energy, transportation, and the environment. Since joining the United States Environmental Protection Agency as Administrator, Gina McCarthy has been a leading advocate for strategies to protect public health and the environment.

“We are incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to partner with POW and welcome Gina McCarthy as this year’s SIA Snow Show keynote speaker,” said incoming SIA President Nick Sargent. “With the historic COP21 agreement in place and the current season seeing drastic weather conditions, we are facing a pivotal moment in environmental advocacy.”

In the wake of last month’s groundbreaking United Nations COP21 Climate Conference in Paris, Gina McCarthy will speak to environmental topics that hit close to home for SIA’s vast network of snow sport retailers, reps, consumers, and enthusiasts. Gina McCarthy will discuss climate change, clean power, and climate solutions in her keynote, followed by a sit-down “coffee-talk” with snow sport industry leaders.

“It’s an honor to host Gina McCarthy as our keynote speaker,” said POW’s executive director Chris Steinkamp. “We look forward to a lively discussion about the extremely time sensitive and important climate change issues that are so closely tied to the snow industry.”
