SKI CERTIFICATION AT COLORADO MOUNTAIN COLLEGE

SnowSports Industries America (SIA) and Colorado Mountain College (CMC) have created the first industry-wide certification and the first testing center for the snowsports industry.

Using curriculum created by snow industry representatives, SIA, and Colorado Mountain College faculty, you now have an industry-standard benchmark to test your knowledge. More importantly, you can earn nationally-recognized certification from SnowSports Industries America. SIA is the trade group representing ski and snowboard manufacturers in the USA.

The CMC/SIA program consists of courses and tests that will evaluate your knowledge in areas such as:

Current students and industry pros can take refresher courses online through Colorado Mountain College before taking the corresponding test. CMC/SIA test scores will provide you with nationally-recognized SIA credentials, giving you the edge in a competitive job market.

Normal price is $250 per class and SIA members pay $199 per class.

Course Descriptions

SIA RETAIL EMPLOYEE

Introduces the student to the fundamental skills and knowledge required of a snow sports retail employee. Emphasis is placed on snow sports industry terms, retail sales techniques, product repair and service, and customer service. Developed in partnership with SnowSports Industries America (SIA) and the annual SIA Snow Show. This course has a fee that is non-refundable. SIA RETAIL MANAGER

Introduces the basic principles and techniques of snow sports retail organization, merchandising, operations, layout, site location, customer service, and management. Emphasis is placed on leadership techniques, retailing principles, and purchasing strategies in the snowsports industry. Developed in partnership with SnowSports Industries America (SIA) and the annual SIA Snow Show. This course has a fee that is non-refundable. SIA MARKETING

Introduces the student to the analysis of theoretical marketing processes and the strategies of product development, pricing, promotion and distribution, and their applications to the snow sport businesses and the individual consumer. Emphasis is placed on snow sport marketing and industry trade shows. Developed in partnership with SnowSports Industries America (SIA) and the annual SIA Snow Show. SIA SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Introduces the student to the sales strategies behind snow sport design and manufacturing aspects. Development and analysis of theoretical production and distribution processes and the strategies for future product development are covered. Emphasis is placed on snow sport sales strategies and industry trade shows. Developed in partnership with SnowSports Industries America (SIA) and the annual SIA Snow Show. SIA WHOLESALE & BUYING

Introduces the student to the fundamental skills and knowledge required in the field of snow sports wholesaling and buying, focusing on business-to-business sales. Emphasis is placed on maximizing efficiency in the business process by analyzing past buying trends, sales records, price and quality of products to determine wholesale buying decisions. SIA PROMOTIONS

Introduces students to the fundamental skills and knowledge required in the field of snow sports promotions and event management. Emphasis is placed on promoting special events for the snow sports industry including new product demos, corporate-sponsored competitions, and team events. Topics such as budgeting, staffing, team management, athlete management, and liability will be discussed. This course has a fee that is non-refundable.
